Meeting up with Julia was so exciting. We spoke about the project idea and how she would interact. However, for me it was more than that. Meeting someone that can relate with my mother was really impactful for me. How she expressed herself and the gratitude she showed to us by displaying our interest in “her world”.

Reading my mothers blog was really helpful. However, I felt a lot of responsibility about how to do my protagonists justice and reflect their perceptions in my work. How were we going to do this? These doubts remained in my mind throughout the whole process although I knew I had to believe in ultimately succeeding if we followed the process step by step.

She helped us by explainin

g different situations that she felt uncomfortable or liberated with. For example when using public transport she felt lost and stressed because of all the things happening around her in contrast to the calmness of nature. She also expressed the difference between being with a known person or a stranger. All these inputs helped us plan a script and we knew that on the day of recording and filming everything would fall in place.

This is the script I came up with:

After all the inputs of my mother, Julia, Sound Of Metal and Christine everything felt overwhelming and the script was hard to make. However, when I layed out all the material I had gathered around me, I felt more confident. I had mixed feelings about whether or not it was enough ? Quality vs. Quantity I thought.
