The Day Arrived

BlOG 7.

12th of May, a nervous but beautiful day. My mom was arriving in Berlin from Spain. Obviously she couldn't miss it. Her arrival was an energetic and loving moment I will never forget. Some technical difficulties with setting the parameters of the multi channel speakers we had at the same time locked us out of the space with the keys inside. Thankfully my mother and her amazing energy calmed me and distracted me. At the end everything was solved with a 15mins delay that we got on track after. The first session was a small audience but unforgettable one. My mothers tears and shock was such a special moment.

I wanted to understand her world, with the ups and downs of seeing I would never understand it 100 percent, that didn't matter. It was the fact of the process and the trying and the experimental and surrealistic take we took on it. I´m getting shivers while writing this. One interesting thing was how Julia and my mother told me about how they didn’t process sound. Cochlear sound simulation through cochlear implants. What an interesting fact.

The combination of everything made it just such a special perception. My aunts drawings, my mothers soul, Julia´s soul, Pablos editing, Maya's filming, Morgan's interactive installation and Pelin heart and soul, Gina's space and energy. Not only that but the audience that came. They were asking questions to themselves about perceptions. They were shocked about a world we know so little about. It's just the goal I wanted to achieve. At the end I got so much more by just analyzing and enjoying the process.

All these energies combined. The transportation of the ears and perceptions. This project opened my artist self and made me already think of future multimedia experiences through perceptions and emotions.
